Summative Assessment
Your Trainer will know about the details of Summative Assessment. In brief, the components are:
1 An MCQ test available every three months, which can be taken at any time during the registrar year - a pass in the MRCGP MCQ test which is held twice a year will provide exemption from the Summative Assessment MCQ. 2 A written presentation (audit) which can be submitted as soon as completed. See our super Clinical Audit Study Guide. Our Summative Assessment Audit page will help you interpret the marking schedule. 3 A video consultation assessment which can also be submitted when an apparently satisfactory standard has been reached. A single video can now to be submitted for MRCGP and SA. 4 A formal Trainer’s Report.
However, all this will change soon - for doctors starting their GP Registrar
year from August 2007, the new MRCGP exam (nMRCGP) will take over as the system
for Summative Assessment. It is important that you register as soon as possible for Summative Assessment with the Deanery office if you have not already done so as part of a vocational training scheme. Contact Moira Linden in the Summative Assessment office, on 01962 893813 or e-mail her at Moira.Linden@sevwesdeanery.nhs.uk
