Family Planning Training
This is not a mandatory requirement for either the MRCGP exam or the Registrar year, but is a useful qualification for general practice. The major contact point for further information for Bath registrars is Dr Catriona Reid, Adult Health Services Manager for Bath (tel 01225 840132). Dr Reid’s office manager, Mrs Jean Button, is able to deal with enquiries.
Minor SurgeryRegistrars will find a Minor Surgery Logbook in the Registrar’s Learning Diary which they should have received as an SHO if they joined the Bath or Swindon Schemes, or from Lucy. This should be completed during the year if the Registrar wishes to be accredited for minor surgery as a GP principal. A very good local course on Minor Surgery runs twice a year. Details available from Dr Rupert Gabriel, the organiser at his practice on 01225 703236.
The number of tasks needing to be completed and/or documented in the registrar year seems to be increasing exponentially. It is therefore vital to be well organised to accomplish these tasks comfortably (it can be done!) Early and careful planning with your trainer is strongly recommended.
Well done! You have now finished the Guide for New GP Registrars.
