Parking at the RUH and Great Western Hospitals

Parking is a real nightmare at both hospitals, and the only way around it is to share lifts there and back, or use public transport.

RUH, Bath

All car parks now have gates, so unless you have a swipe card you will not be able to park within the hospital grounds. Parking is available on the roads near the back entrance of the hospital, but they are residential areas and you will have to fight for spaces with people dropping their children off to school. Otherwise you may be able to find parking in Weston village itself.

The nearest train station is in the centre of town, with regular services from Swindon

Bus services run every 15 minutes from the town centre- nos. 14, 20A, 20C, 17

There is a park & ride, which runs from Odd Down directly to the hospital; the other park and ride car parks have services into the centre of town.

Great Western Hospital, Swindon

Parking is best in front of the SWICC centre to the left as you enter the hospital grounds, but arrive early to get spaces. You have to pay the charge for the whole day, which will then be reimbursed via Section 63 (another good reason for sharing cars). If there are no spaces here you can park in the staff car parks anywhere on the grounds, but again you will have to pay.

The nearest mainline train station is in the middle of Swindon. An express shuttle service to the hospital is available.

Regular bus services run from the centre of town.
