The Training Practices
There are a lot of practices in and around Bath dedicated to training GP Registrars. These offer a wide range of training opportunities in urban, market town and rural general practice. To become a GP, 12 months as a GP Registrar are needed. This offers a chance to put down roots and to follow patients with a range of chronic medical problems. All Trainers in Bath are carefully selected. They are comprehensively trained in teaching and assessment methods before being allowed loose on GP Registrars. They also undertake regular special training and refresher courses. They are formally reassessed at least every three years. Training in Bath is "learner centred", with each course of training specifically designed for an individual registrar. Bath area Trainers have their own group, the Regius Society of Bath - find out more about it here. Terry Paterson is the Associate Director. Please see the AD's page for information about how to contact him, as well as for guidance on becoming a Trainer and re-approval visits.
